Elephant Grounds SM Podium
Manila

As the Elephant Grounds brand continues to gain footing on the global scene, JJ Acuna Bespoke Studio was commissioned to design the second international site in SM Podium, a major business and commercial district in Manila. This site offers busy clients much needed recess at an urban oasis with an all encompassing coffee-brunch experience.

The barrier-free concept breaks the typical coffee-shop vibe with its warmly lit and welcoming atmosphere. Unique site-only accents such as a vintage letter tile menu board and the high printed planks feature walls offer it a substantial landmark as a fresh and elevated lifestyle destination.

In alignment with the brand’s identity, the use of signature materials such as dual-tone pine timber and walnut, black painted steel frames and black and white contrasting subway tile work from the base palette of the design scheme.

Split across two levels with access to outdoor space, the seating options offer variety such as bespoke school house vintage seats upholstered with a pop of orange colored fabric, dining height seats, bar height seating and outdoor lounge seating.

Artist collaborations on the project include the iconic “Coffee n’ Chill” neon sign designed by Tokyo signage artist Sunnynap and EG branded bar stools and printed planks designed by Hong Kong craftsman Dom of Start from Zero.
