Marina Deli at Aberdeen Marina Club
Hong Kong

Marina Deli at the Aberdeen Marina Club is a cozy oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the club. Patrons gather here to indulge in the pleasure of good food and excellent service. Whether you're heading out on a boat excursion or simply grabbing a quick takeaway treat like a piping hot coffee or a fresh   sandwich, the Marina Deli is the perfect spot to start your day.

The Marina Deli is not just any food counter; it's a homey destination that caters to both members and the public. Recently renovated by JJ Acuna / Bespoke Studio, the establishment now boasts a new look that pays homage to the traditional old-school delis of yesteryear. JJ Acuna’s design includes touches of nostalgia that complement the deli's menu of well-loved treats. "We drew inspiration from the old-school appeal of traditional delis, not just in terms of style, but also in terms of the overall experience, from the atmosphere to the architectural details," explains JJ.The Marina Deli's significant role in the club is not to be underestimated. It serves as a warm and welcoming gathering spot that provides delicious food and a delightful experience for everyone who enters.

According to Dominic Cheung, the lead designer on the project, the Marina Deli presented some unique challenges. The site's small footprint and two entryways - one for members only and another open to the public - made it difficult to balance the need for privacy with a welcoming atmosphere. To overcome these challenges, the designers combined upscale club appeal with traditional touches,  creating a refined and elevated space with a fun "lived-in" feel.

The heart of the deli lies in its fresh bread and patisserie choices. The interiors are kept clean, white, and minimal, with textured walls, varnished oak timbers, and antique brass detailing. This design perfectly highlights the delicious offerings of the deli.

The Marina Deli not only serves as a convenient stop for much-needed grub, but it is also the perfect place for members to relax and enjoy the latest treats. Whether you're in the mood for a healthy lunch box, champagne, an éclair, or a flat white, the Marina Deli is the perfect spot to savour these delights in a lazy afternoon. The designers' attention to detail has created a space that tells a story of a busy area carefully put together, and it's no wonder that clients and the community at large appreciate it.

CLASSIC OLD-SCHOOL

Our aim in renovating the Marina Deli is to honor its rich tradition by bringing back the old-school vibe. We want to create a new and refreshing yet classic and nostalgic aesthetic that will transport our guests back to the delis of yesteryear. JJ Acuña applied touches of nostalgia that complemented the deli's menu of well-loved treats. Acuña drew inspiration from the traditional appeal of old-school delis, not just in terms of style, but also in terms of the overall experience, from the atmosphere to the architectural detailing. "Our goal was to create a space that feels like a classic deli, with all the warmth and charm that comes with it," says JJ.

The Marina Deli is not just any food counter; it's a homey destination that caters to both members and the public. Patrons gather here to indulge in the pleasure of good food and excellent service. Whether you're heading out on a boat excursion or simply grabbing a quick takeaway treat like a piping hot coffee or a fresh sandwich, the Marina Deli is the perfect spot to start your day.
